Ultra-Rare and Unrepeatable – Range Rover Pearl of Tay Stuns Milan 2026
In Milan, April 2026, Milan Design Week becomes the stage for Range Rover’s latest statement – Traces, a site-specific installation housed within Galleria Meravigli from 21–26 April. At its core sits the Range Rover Pearl of Tay, a one-of-one Bespoke commission positioned within a constructed landscape of black gravel and mirrored vitrines. Overhead, pearlescent fins echo the movement of flowing water, reinforcing a spatial narrative where reflection and materiality merge into a controlled, immersive environment.
The Pearl of Tay draws direct inspiration from the freshwater pearl of Scotland’s River Tay, translating its organic luminosity into both exterior and interior surfaces. The palette remains restrained yet highly calibrated, allowing subtle iridescence to define the vehicle’s presence. Materials and finishes extend this narrative further, referencing Scottish landscapes and artisanal craft traditions. This commission exemplifies Range Rover’s Bespoke division, where colour, embroidery, and material selection are treated not as optional extras but as foundational design variables without predefined limits.
Traces unfolds across three sequences – Memory and Colour, Memory and Motif, and Memory and Material. The first introduces a four-wall film by Felipe Sanguinetti, moving between Argentina and Paris while a suspended lightbox shifts the room’s tonal atmosphere. The second compresses scale, presenting illustrated works by Hvass and Hannibal, Lisa Rampilli, Petra Börner, and Jules Julien, translated into embroidery by the Bespoke Materiality team and multiplied through mirrored vitrines. The final chapter reveals the Pearl of Tay alongside fourteen single-material objects curated by Bard, reflecting Scottish craftsmanship across stone, metal, and textile, while GUBI furnishings including Pierre Paulin’s F300 Lounge Chair complete the adjoining café setting.
