Dior Opens a Private World Above Rue du Rhône

Dior’s Geneva flagship places private client services above the main retail floors of its Rue du Rhône address. Designed by Christian de Portzamparc, the 10-storey building separates the private experience from the commercial rhythm below. Six white resin shells rise 23.3 metres above the corner, enclosing curved glazing that brings natural light into the interiors. After dark, the illumination gives the structure a restrained presence on Geneva’s principal luxury street.

The upper levels are reserved for VIP appointments, with the top floor centred around a private fitting-room salon and panoramic lounges overlooking Lake Geneva and the Alps. CNC-cut, dust-textured wood forms part of the interior, alongside a relief by François Mascarello. His fresco takes Lake Geneva as its subject, drawing from the work of Ferdinand Hodler and Cuno Amiet. Across the flagship, works by Pamela Rosenkranz, Ugo Rondinone, William Coggin, Martin Kline and Dashiell Manley sit alongside archival sketches and photographs by Brigitte Niedermair, giving the private rooms the character of a contemporary collection rather than a conventional boutique.

The six collection floors present women’s ready-to-wear by Maria Grazia Chiuri, menswear by Kim Jones and jewellery by Victoire de Castellane, with leather goods, shoes and accessories completing the selection. Above them, the atmosphere becomes more contained. Natural wood, textured surfaces, ivory and gold details, soft seating and gallery-style lighting create a quieter setting for individual fittings. Private-client services extend to gift boxes, gift cards and personalised messages, while selected pieces can be finished with fragrance tassels or personalised engraving. The distinction is architectural as much as commercial — the further the appointment moves from Rue du Rhône, the more discreet the setting becomes.
